Diary and confessions of a lonely and bored boy

Weel this is day 2 of my bored and lonely life.
well tomorrow, we will be watching Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the crystal skull, many many skulls are dangling many many dangers are lurking what will indiana Jones face this time?
well popcorn, here we come! today well it is not so boring, i went out with my dad the entire day today and we walked the entire clarke street and walked around Singapore River, our origin. it all started when i was very young, my dad took me around his office and since every saturday, i will go to his office, many fond memories are etched on my mind whenever i go there, the arcade the hawkers and the Singapore River, the Macdonalds at Daimaru, the Kinokuniya at Daimaru, the stairs leading to my dad's office, these are some of the many memories i had, we watched the c central build up and we watched the point of time where the bungie jump was brought into the singapore river, Trishaws, Ang mors, cameras, clark quay, raffles, river, bungie, taxi. that was the past Clarke Quay, but now, what's left is media and entertainment, or what is known as Ministry of Sound, which has converted the entire Clarke Street into Pubs, music entertainment, even Hooters are there, serving the caucasians customers. there was the turkish ice cream and there was a huge shelter over the entire Street. although the old clarke Quay was gone, the memories will always be the best souvenir to have over there, i know what has happened playing with the uncles and aunties, eating macdonalds and even letting my dad spend his last $10 on me,
I will never ever forget him, i love him always and forever.

Yours Truly,
Joel :)

Diary and confessions of a lonely and bored boy

Well this is day 1 of my bored and lonely life.
The Blazing heat from the sun is just untolerable and here i am again, sitting in front of the computer screen, drooling away again. so to get rid of my loneliness, (although this is going to sound pretty riddiculous) talk to my computer, well it is the only way to improve my english and to liven things up, today will be a saturday and i was supposed to give a surprise to my friend, but i forgot her brithday was today! how am i going to surpise her when she is not even going to school? anyways i finished my homework, slcked around the couch, watching some television and, due to my horrendous cold, went to bed.
woke up, swam and did my every saturday routine went to grandma's house, played till 11 pm in the night and went home, washed hands and made a bowl of delicious and piping hot instant noodles, watched home movie with my dad and soon, went to bed.
this life is just fat and lazy, but what the heck, its every saturday!
anyway, it is getting very late and i am tired,
till then, toodles

Yours truly,
Joel

Random Crap

well this is Joey's favourite phrase to Joel Ong,

Sticks and stones,
may break my bone,
but words,
could never hurt me

thank you

Myanmar and China

Wow! Two disaster struck at almost the same time, Myanmar and China, well this Disaster has brought devastation and grief to many people and i think many families are at a loss, Houses destroyed, families destroyed, houses collapsed, and many victims of this disaster are really in need of help and please if you have the chance, help the victims, streth out a helpig hand, it doesn't mean that you have donated, you could not donate again, no! you could donate until you think you have donated enough
well many victims out there, although there might be no chance of people surviving, many people are still waiting for that ray of hope
Please be generous and donate,

Helping the needy always,
Joel

during post-exams and holiday plans

This post will be the time where i talk about my post examinations, well it was fun, most of them because of some where i get to stay under the blazing heat! Whew! well i guess it is all because of global warming. anyways, the holidays i will be going away for a vacation to Johore Bahru, Malaysia. that place is like a beautiful island and a second home to me, besides Thailand of course. well it isn't surprising that most people would not prefer to go to Thailand although i do see a fair number of caucasians going to Thailand everytime i visit that place. the heat in Singapore is nothing compared to the heat in Thailand. their heat is blazing and dry and hot kind of heat whereareas ours is humid, moisture-sticky kind of heat. My father was complaining about the heat in Thailand. Okay, back to Malaysia, i don't really know when i wll be coming back( or so I think it would be as long as possible, preferably the entire June) but we will be staying in a luxurious 4 STAR Hotel called Zon or previously known as Eden hotel, (P.S not many Taxi drivers really know how to get there)
but i hope you guys wouldn't miss me while i am gone,

Lots Of Love,
Joel

The Village was publicized as a 24-hour bustling temporary city, but it was eerie how quiet it got at 3 am. This late at night it was actually chilly in Sydney. It felt like an early August morning at the lake where his family spent the summers. The dimmed lighting was downright moody, and the only people Arthur encountered were the occasional security guards and gaggles of partying Europeans. They all waved hello and offered congratulations. It was so strange he felt like giggling. He was still wearing the medal under his sweatshirt. He couldn't seem to take it off. He had worked twenty-five years for it If he took it off it would be dismissive. I got you, now go back in your box. No. He felt obligated to clutch the medal close to his heart. When no one was looking he would take a peek to see if it was still there. Damn. He couldn't be Olympic champion. Yes, said the medal, you could, and you are.He found himself entering the cavernous communications centre. He expected it to be empty, but with thousands of athletes jockeying for a few hundred computer terminals he should have known better. People should be asleep, he thought, but then he realized. No, 3 am here may be prime chatting time with their families. Their events may be over. They may not have to get any sleep. Just like me. Unti the relay in three days he would have no obligations. His wife was asleep at the room. She knew how this worked. She went through the same thing in Barcelona in 1988, but that year they couldn't share a room in the Village. He hadn't qualified for the team. Third place, they take two. He had watched from their tiny Syracuse apartment as she crushed the East Europeans. She had told him how the first night was strange, how she sat up all night staring blankly at the medal. Now she was a sprint coach and she could share it with him. When he got out of bed."I'm going out," he had said."Whatever," was all she muttered, but the way she touched his arm told him she knew why. She turned to go back to sleep, and the grin on her face, her pride was almost too much for him. When you're waking up every day at 5 to work out of prepare for 8 am heats, you don't have much time for Olympic fun. He knew about the kick ass cafeteria that somehow made the best grits he had ever tasted. He had heard about the computers. He had heard they were letting people send questions in to athletes. As he walked toward the emptiest part of the centre, a guy he recognized as a legendary Pakastani weightlifter looked up. He saw Arthur and gave him two fist pumps and a smile. His wife had gone through a media blitz after Barcelona, but it was dawning on him that it was much different than he ever imagined to be at the center of the blitz instead of watching from the sidelines.Just out of curiosity, he pulled up the official Olympic website and pulled up the results of his race. Swimming. 200 meter breaststroke. American Arthur Coddington Upsets Klim in Olympic Record. I guess it's true. I won, he thought. Of course it wasn't supposed to happen this way. Michael Klim was supposed to bring home another gold for Australia. So much was changing so fast. A wave of panic hit him. He was on display. He was a big story. In four hours he would be taping an in depth interview with Bob Costas. His agent Betty was fielding some pretty insane sponsorship offers - Speedo, Ferrari, UPS. He wouldn't get basketball rich, but he could pay off the mortgage and if he played his cards right he and Crystal would be set for life. Betty said for the next year at least he would get $30,000 - $50,000 for a speaking engagement. This wasn't supposed to happen. He wasn't even the top qualifier on the US Team. He ony beat the third place guy by two hundredths of a second. He wasn't even supposed to be an athlete at his age. Whoever heard of a 35 year old swimming champion? His hands were shaking. He took a deep breath, felt his medal under his sweatshirt, remembered little Candice sleeping back home, and it was okay. The Olympic organizers had let the public send questions to the athletes over the website. He logged on and clicked the Ask The Athlete button. One thousand fifty-three people had sent questions to him, and it looked like most of them were sent this evening. It made him feel exposed, like everyone knew who he was and everyone was looking at him. And frankly he had a good feeling about that. Five years ago he was washed up. After spending twenty years in the pool, he had an undistinguished elite swimming career. Three Olympic Trials. Zero teams made. Sixteen national championships. No titles, no records. Four NCAA meets. No titles. Then the lump appeared on his neck, and he had to take a year off to rid his body of the tumor. Then the spot appeared on his forehead, and he wasn't allowed to swim while the melanoma was being treated, and they didn't want him out in the sun training. Then Crystal got pregnant and he took a job selling commercial heating and air conditioning systems to pay the rent. He gained thirty pounds and watched a new generation of swimmers pass him by.One day he was playing with little Candice at the park and she ran toward the street. She got a thirty foot headstart on him. The light turned green, and cars converged on the spot where Candice was heading. Instinct took over. He rushed to her and wisked her off the ground just as she reached the sidewalk. As he kissed her and gently scolded her for being a renegade, he noticed that he was winded and had a pulled hamstring. A thirty foot run and he was winded. They say drug addicts won't stop until they hit bottom. It's the same for athletes. They can stay away from fitness until it gets embarrassingly bad. Arthur limped to the car, giving little Candice a piggyback ride, trying to remember where the nearest training pools were.Early the next morning he went to the YMCA for a swim. He could have walked into any college pool in the city and swum laps with their teams. He knew all the coaches. That's not what he wanted. He wanted a gentle, recreational swim. He had no ambitions of a return to competition. The pool was populated swimmers moving so slow it was more like floating than swimming. Still, he was nervous. He found a nearly empty lane and sunk down into the water. After so many years it still felt familiar, that cocoon. He pulled his goggles down and pushed off the wall. He barely made it out and back, but he noticed something. As slow as he tried to go, he went fast. His stroke was still there. He swam every day for the next week and worked himself up to a half mile swim. He became a bit of a sensation in the YMCA. The snail-paced swimmers would point and murmer as he got in and out of the pool. No one swam in his lane because no one could keep up, and he wasn't even trying to go fast. He called Bruce, his college coach who now ran an elite training program and broached the subject of returning to form. Bruce was a diplomat but even he couldn't hide his urge to laugh. He admired Arthur's ambition. He also knew that Arthur had never been a dominant swimmer, and that in the years since his illnesses the sport had become twice as competitive. He discouraged Arthur with all his fancy skills. Arthur wanted to give it a try. At a certain point, Bruce stopped resisting Arthur's pipe dream and agreed to help him out with one key ground rule. They would be training for Olympic level swimming, but Arthur should forget any ambition of making the Olympics. He had seen Arthur go off the deep end, pardon the pun, one too many times after failing at the Olympic trials. Crystal was concerned with Arthur's return to training. They had put swimming behind them. They were elder statesmen in the swimming community, and elder statemen don’t challenge the young bucks. Look what happened to Mark Spitz. It was embarrassing, and it tarnished his aura of invinceability. “Look, I’m all in favor of you getting into shape. I love that you enjoy swimming again. Just don’t get back into a rut of training.”“Don’t worry,” was all Arthur ever said.Crystal’s graphic design projects brought in more income than his salary, so cutting his hours in half didn’t hurt their finances. Arthur woke up before dawn six days a week for a year and a half, put in double practices and had his technique broken down and replaced by entirely new techniques. He lifted weights. He invested in twice weekly massages to keep his muscles fresh. Arthur’s dedication and infectious enthusiasm for swimming wore off on Bruce. Within two months Bruce said to hell with the no-Olympics ground rule. Arthur was swimming too fast to deny it. He could keep up, and he might be better than ever by the Olympic Trials. The rest was a blur of training and working and lack of sleep. It took him four tries to get an Olympic Trials qualifying time. At the Trials, he choked in the 100 Fly, not even making it out of the heats. He skated through the heats of the 200. The finals were stacked. World record holders, junior world champions. It was a gauntlet even for someone with years of uninterrupted training, and on top of that he drew a bad lane because of his slow heat times. It worked out. He swam without knowing what place he was in. He broke his personal best by six tenths of a second. He knocked the world record holder off the Olympic Team. Just another day at the office. He read a question from an Olympic fan. What would you be doing if you weren’t a swimmer? Easy question. He wasn’t a swimmer for so many years. He already lived that life. Then he got a flash of his junior swimming days. He was ten years old and on his first local swimming team. He was not the best swimmer, and they kept putting him in different races every meet. One time he’d swim freestyle, the next time breastroke. His mom drove him to a night meet at a high school pool. He had been there to see his older sister swim a varsity meet. All he could remember was the diving board, the terrible, horrible cry of the board as the divers took off. It was so loud it hurt his ears. The creaking was worse than fingernails on a blackboard. When they drove into the parking lot, it was like a phobia of that diving board sound kicked in. He refused to get out of the car. His mom was not having any of it. She didn’t drive all the way out here for nothing. He was going to swim. Fine. They got out of the car, and the memory of that diving board sound haunted him again. He ran away across the dark parking lot. He hid behind a utility shed. His mother was frantic. She was angry and frustrated and afraid. She begged him to stop hiding. At that moment, he could have ended his swimming career, but he didn’t. The pain in his mother’s voice was worse than the sound of that damn diving board. He ran back to her and apologized. He swam that night and won his first race. He won big. There wasn’t even a diving competition, so he never had to experience the sound he most feared. That meet was when his coaches started grooming him as an elite swimmer. If he wasn’t a swimmer, it would have been because he didn’t come out of hiding that night. It would have been because he refused to swim. It would have been because of his parents’ punishment. You made your choice tonight. You’re not on the swim team anymore. The coaches were talking about the Junior Olympics for you, but you should have thought of that before you pulled that stunt. He would have been without a sport, and he would have found other things to do. He would have played kickball in the street with the neighborhood kids. He would have gone for hikes in the woods around their house. He would have played Frisbee with his sister in the backyard. And one birthday, his sister would have given him a book on Frisbee for his birthday. And he would read the book over and over again, and he would decide to make Frisbee his sport. He would discover that he was not just good at swimming, he was good at sports. He was a natural athlete, and he would learn how to compete in the different Frisbee sports very quickly. There would be no training programs or local clubs to shephard him up through the ranks. He would have to do it on his own, riding his bike to the local university after school to practice throwing for distance, analyzing Frisbee magazine pictures to figure out how to do tricks. He would lobby his parents to take him to a competition, they would give in, and he would surprise them by winning the state junior championships on his first try.Arthur knew he was smart but that he had chosen swimming over studies. If he had not been a swimmer, he would have been a better student. He would have gotten into an Ivy League school, say Princeton for instance. He would have set aside Frisbee competitions to focus on his degree. After graduating, he would join a management training program. He would dress up in a suit every day and ride the New York subway to work. He would crunch numbers and jockey for promotions and buy a footlong hotdog for lunch every day. After three years he would land a lucrative job at a competing firm. He would get married but divorce within a year because his career was more important. One night he would flip through the Sunday New York Times and read an article about people being paid millions of dollars for spec screenplays in Hollywood. The dollar signs would light up in his eys, and he would sit down at the typewriter and try his hand at it. He would show his first script to trusted friends, who would praise it. He would get an offer of representation from a law firm who would ultimately flake out on him before signing papers, but that legitimate praise would be enough to make him pack up and move to California to make his fortune as a screenwriter.Los Angeles would not be friendly to him. Consulting firms were not interested in an executive with interests outside the office. He would live off his savings until he found a job as a secretary for a film executive in a studio. He would continue writing and be rejected by every production company in town. Sometimes he used his connections to get copies of the script notes on his submissions, and they were devastatingly brutal.Sometime after moving to Los Angeles, with its year-round summers, he would rediscover Frisbee. Like Arthur and swimming, he would start playing again for fun, then quickly learn that he was still competitive. He would find that there were others to play with, and he would latch onto the tricks event, freestyle, as his thing. Freestyle would relieve the stress and frustrations of his job and writing. He would find a teammate to compete with, perhaps someone who had also given the sport up and had rediscovered it within a week of him. Arthur smirked. That was a little over the top. He let his adrenalin-induced fantasy continue. Two hands on his shoulders jolted him out of his daydream. “You okay, mate? You’ve been staring into space for an hour.”It was Michael Klim, his victim in the finals tonight. Klim squeezed his shoulders in a congratulatory gesture. The pain was so obvious on Klim’s face. He was the favorite. He was supposed to win in his home country. Arthur spoiled that for him. He was up at 4 am. His eyes looked red. Was the big man crying?“You’re up pretty late,” said Arthur.“Drowning my sorrows, mate. Drowning my sorrows. You had an awesome race tonight. Congratulations.”“Thanks, man.”“What are you doing up? Get some rest. You’ve got a whole new life.”“I know. I couldn’t sleep. I was. Happy.”“Damn right. You should be. Cheers.”Arthur almost logged off, then decided to answer the email question. What would you be doing if you weren’t a swimmer?“Great question! I don’t know what else I’d do. For now I’m enjoying being a swimmer.”He decided to go back to the room for a quick nap before the interview. As he strolled the walkway and acknowledged more congratulations, he imagined more of his non-swimming life. He and his teammate would train together and lift each other into contention for world championship medals. The sport’s establishment would not be happy with how fast the newcomers were coming on. They would win regular season tournaments, but it would take them a few years to break through and win their first world championship title. After that there was no stopping them. He and his teammate would win every year and set records and create groundbreaking new directions in the sport. He would travel the world and perform at NBA halftimes and compete at the X-Games, but every time he won a competition he would wonder what it's like to win the Olympics

Exams

Well the term “ exams” gives you a feeling that it is going to examine your overall progress. Well, it’s true. Many people like exams, while most of them don’t. why is it so. The percentage of weird people likes exams mainly because they would like to gage and have an access to where they academically stand. This is of course, positive and having exams most of the time gives you a sort of preparation to when a major exams arrive you would ten to not be so worried and anxious, with your sweat all over your forehead and having internal shivers when receiving your paper.
The other larger percentage who doesn’t like exams is also normal. This is mainly because they would not like to have the tendency to feeling pressured. But they do not normally think of the consequences. They wouldn’t think like the other people, they will not think that when it comes to the paper, they would not worry, they would not think that exam papers are a sort of gage or a sort of access to where you stand. Exams was formed when you have literature, when they formed a writing system. Even in ancient China, the scholars had to take the imperial examinations to become an official. In Athens, Greece, the astronomers and highly regarded had to take exams in their mother tongue language, had to take mathematics. Even now in society, you need to take courses and examinations to get a job, increase the business rate in your company. Examinations are there to see if you truly understand what you have learnt in the past few months or so, even in swimming, you would have a test every 10 lessons, to see if you have improved or are you not ready for the next level. Sometimes when examinations arrive, there are people who do not study and still score, but that is another type of people called the geniuses and there are people who study very hard, but still don’t do well, those are called the not having the ability to understand type of people

As the exams near, I wish all of you all the best

His First Flight(this was by soemone called Liam o flaherty

The young seagull was alone in his ledge. His two brothers and his sister had already flown away the day before. He had been afraid to fly with them. Somehow when he had taken a little run forward to the brink of the ledge and attempted to flap his wings he became afraid. The great expanse of sea stretched down beneath, and it was such a long way down -- miles down. He felt certain that his wings would never support him, so he bent his head and ran away back to the little hole under the ledge where he slept at night.
Even when each of his brothers and his little sister, whose wings were far shorter than his own, ran to the brink, flapped their wings, and flew away, he failed to muster up courage to take that plunge which appeared to him so desperate. His father and mother had come around calling to him shrilly, scolding him, threatening to let him starve on his ledge unless he flew away. But for the life of him he could not move.
That was twenty-four hours ago. Since then nobody had come near him. The day before, all day long, he had watched his parents flying about with his brothers and sister, perfecting them in the art of flight, teaching them how to skim the waves and how to dive for fish. He had, in fact, seen his older brother catch his first herring and devour it, standing on a rock, while his parents circled around raising a proud cackle. And all the morning the whole family had walked about on the big plateau midway down the opposite cliff, laughing at his cowardice.
The sun was now ascending the sky, blazing warmly on his ledge that faced south. He felt the heat because he had not eaten since the previous nightfall. Then he had found a dried piece of mackerel’s tail at the far end of his ledge. Now there was not a single scrap of food left. He had searched every inch, rooting among the rough, dirt-caked straw nest where he and his brothers and sister had been hatched. He even gnawed at the dried pieces of eggshell. It was like eating part of himself.
He had then trotted back and forth from one end of the ledge to the other, his long gray legs stepping daintily, trying to find some means of reaching his parents without having to fly. But on each side of him the ledge ended in a sheer fall of precipice, with the sea beneath. And between him and his parents there was a deep, wide crack.
Surely he could reach them without flying if he could only move northwards along the cliff face? But then on what could he walk? There was no ledge, and he was not a fly. And above him he could see nothing. The precipice was sheer, and the top of it was perhaps farther away than the sea beneath him.
He stepped slowly out to the brink of the ledge, and, standing on one leg with the other leg hidden under his wing, he closed one eye, then the other, and pretended to be falling asleep. Still they took no notice of him. He saw his two brothers and his sister lying on the plateau dozing, with their heads sunk into their necks. His father was preening the feathers on his white back. Only his mother was looking at him.
She was standing on a little high hump on the plateau, her white breast thrust forward. Now and again she tore at a piece of fish that lay at her feet, and then scraped each side of her beak on the rock. The sight of the food maddened him. How he loved to tear food that way, scraping his beak now and again to whet it! He uttered a low cackle. His mother cackled too, and looked over at him.
Ga, ga, ga, he cried, begging her to bring him over some food. Gawl-ool-ah, she screamed back mockingly. But he kept calling plaintively, and after a minute or so he uttered a joyful scream. His mother had picked up a piece of the fish and was flying across to him with it. He leaned out eagerly, tapping the rock with his feet, trying to get nearer to her as she flew across. But when she was just opposite to him, abreast of the ledge, she halted, her legs hanging limp, her wings motionless, the piece of fish in her beak almost within reach of his beak.
He waited a moment in surprise, wondering why she did not come nearer, and then maddened by hunger, he dived at the fish. With a loud scream he fell outwards and downwards into space. His mother had swooped upwards. As he passed beneath her he heard the swish of her wings.
Then a monstrous terror seized him and his heart stood still. He could hear nothing. But it only lasted a moment. The next moment he felt his wings spread outwards. The wind rushed against his breast feathers, then under his stomach and against his wings. He could feel the tips of his wings cutting through the air. He was not falling headlong now. He was soaring gradually downwards and outwards. He was no longer afraid. He just felt a bit dizzy. Then he flapped his wings once and he soared upwards.
He uttered a joyous scream and flapped them again. He soared higher. He raised his breast and banked against the wind. Ga, ga, ga. Ga, ga, ga. Gawl-ool-ah. His mother swooped past him, her wings making a loud noise. He answered-her with another scream Then his father flew over him screaming. The he saw his two brothers and sister flying around him, soaring and diving.
Then he completely forgot that he had not always been able to fly, and commenced himself to dive and soar, shrieking shrilly.
He was near the sea now, flying straight over it, facing out over the ocean. He saw a vast green sea beneath him, with little ridges moving over it, - anti he turned his beak sideways and crowed amusedly. His parents and his brothers and sister had landed on this green floor in front of him. They were beckoning to him, calling shrilly. He dropped his legs to stand on the green sea. His legs sank into it. He screamed with fright and attempted to rise again, flapping his wings. But he was tired and weak with hunger and he could not rise, exhausted by the strange exercise. His feet sank into the green sea, and then his belly touched it and he sank no farther.
He was floating on it. And around him his family was screaming, praising him, and their beaks were offering him scraps of dog-fish.
He had made his first flight.

Ghost on the bus

It was a dark and rainy night. The mist along the road made the atmosphere cold and creepy. A bus was driving along the roads of Bradell Road. It was exactly 12 midnight when the bus stopped at a bus stop just in front of a cemetery.
The lady walked in, without making a single sound or noise, went to the rear of the bus. At that same point of time, everything stopped. The laughter of high school students died, the bus driver and the conductor conversation came to a fading halt. Even the cries of the infant stopped. everyone in the bus turned to look at the lady. The strangest thing was she didn’t had a single drop of rain on her. she had an extraordinary long hair and cold wind keep rushing towards everybody’s seat. And then the bus drove on. As it goes, the passengers didn’t make a single sound. They just stood still and kept quiet. Even the bus conductor went back to his seat. At 12.30 a.m sharp, the rain mysteriously stopped and when the bus arrived at the next bus stop near Bishan bus stop. Then the bus driver stopped and noticed that the atmosphere was back again and when he adjusted the rear mirror until he could see the rear of the bus, she was gone, the lady was gone. Everyone turned behind to see where did she go? After the bus stop and everyone alighted, the bus driver and the bus conductor, without breathing a word went back to the bus interchange.

The following short story is by a true story although I didn’t experience it, I was told by my dad whom he can entrust me to pass this story down from generation to generation.

Pre-Historic Life

This story begins with four best friends, Joel, Tracy, Sam and Beatrice. They share a common interest—exploring the unknown. So they form a club called the Mystery adventure club.
Every now and then, they would go mountain climbing, visiting haunted houses and even cemetery at night.
One day, they all decided to go trekking in the forest. So they packed their bag and off they went.
They reached their destination, a forest not far from Mt. Finable, in the morning. They were very excited. Could not wait a moment longer, not knowing what was lying ahead of them, they went deep in the forest.
As they walk further in the forest, it gets darker. Losing track of time, they need to find a place to rest. They found a dry and flat piece of land and started pitching their tents. After they all had dinner, they sat around to plan for their trip tomorrow.
While they were discussing, they heard some funny noises coming from deep in the forest, they also saw some flickering light coming from the same direction. The four of them get a bit of frighten yet excited. What could it be happening deep in the forest?
The next morning, Joel woke up first and then called the rest of the team up. They trekked deeper into the forest; they came across a flat bald piece of land in the middle of the forest. They were all puzzled by what was in front of them. Who could have done such a thing in the middle of the forest? It has a size of a football field with four deep-rounded impressions on it. They felt goose pimple crept up their spine.
As soon as they overcame their shock and were sure that no one was around, they got bolder and started walking into the middle of the field. Tracy saw a small gadget with a red blinking light. Tracy picked it up. It looks like a remote control of her home television except that it had a big dial, a small screen and three small buttons.
They all crowded around to take a good look at it. Curious as they always are, they started fiddling with it. The three buttons read as PAST, FUTURE and ABORT. As Joel turning the dial around, it started showing a series of number as years. A small printed word at the back of the gadget said, “this is a teleportation device. Just adjust the time you want to go and press the button in the middle of the dial.”
“I think we found a time traveling machine.” Tracy joking said. “Let’s hold hands and try it out.” Joel said. Tracy knew history and told Beatrice to set the time to 230 million years ago and they adjusted the time and everyone was so excited.
As Joel pressed the middle button, soon they were in a whole different place! There were a rich amount of oxygen and full of greens. The four of them all gaped at the amazement and suddenly; Joel said, “This is so different from television shows!”
Then suddenly, a small figure ran across and they all jumped in shock.
All four of them turned their focus to the figure and noticed that it was a small and petite dinosaur. It looked like a mini tyrannosaurus rex. It has a small, sharp claw in front of its feet and at this time, Beatrice came from behind the group and said, “This dinosaur is called a Compsonagthus (you may check out the name from libraries, wikipedia or any encyclopedia). They all nodded their heads and clapped to show that they were absolutely impressed by what she said. But the clapping petrified the small dinosaur and it ran away.
They continue with their trek. As they walk further away, they noticed that the portal was slowly closing up. They knew it was a point of no return. They continue walking and soon are out of the jungle.
They turned around and heaved a sigh of relief and said, “Oh gosh, finally we are out of the jungle!” Joel exclaim.
Hardly would they know that it was just the beginning of their adventure. Tracy first felt a short tremor and soon after, everyone felt it too. As the tremor get more intense, they saw the trees starting to shake and then a huge, majestic creature suddenly appeared. It was a brachiosaurus, followed by an Allosaurus, a fears looking Tyrannosaurus Rex was hotly pursuing them.
Quickly the four of them run back to hide in the forest. When the “coast was clear” they again venture out of the woods to find other smaller creatures like the Deinonychus, which is only the size of a human; and the Euparkeria, which is the size of a chicken.
They saw world renowned Stegosaurus and Triceratops. They are all so huge that when they walk, their movements were like stomping the ground.
The four of them were so trill and excited. They had to duck every time a dinosaur walked by. There were once they unknowingly found themselves underneath the mighty Brachiosaurus.
Fearing for their own safety yet wanting to see more, they continued with their trek.
After a while, they came across a big river. They were all so tired and thirsty; so they ran to it and started drinking like four buffalos. The water was so clean and pure that it tasted sweet.
After they had enough rest, they set off to continue their journey. They walk along the river, plucking and eating the wild fruit that they can lay their hand on. While they walk, they continue to meet more and more pre-historic creatures.
Suddenly, Tracy shouted “Bridge, a bridge.” “Why so excited, it is just a bridge!” Sam retorted. Tracy gave him a long hard look and said, “That means there is other human being around.” “I don’t understand.” Sam said. Joel explained, “Human being does not exist when the dinosaur was roaming the earth.”
Quickly, they walked toward the bridge. Leading across the river, it is a long swing bridge made out of rope and plank. They could not see the end of it as it disappeared into the thick forest over the other side of the river.
Joel, being a strong leader, volunteered himself to first cross the bridge. Carefully he balanced himself on the bridge and walked slowly. Occasionally turn back to wave to his friends.
Slowly his friend saw him disappear into the thick of the forest. Just when they were getting worry, they heard Joel shouted across the other end “It is clear over here!” Upon hearing it, the three of them started their crossing. Tracy was the first to go, follow by Sam and Beatrice. Just when Tracy heaved a sigh of relief upon reaching the other side of the bridge and just when Sam was half way through, Beatrice saw a Triceratops charging at her and she got panicked. She screamed and ran across the bridge. The Triceratops followed. As the bridge was made out of rope, it could not take the weight and snapped.
It all happened so sudden, before Tracy and Joel could do anything; Sam, Beatrice and the Triceratops fell into the river. The strong current soon swept the three of them out of sight. Tracy was screaming and crying in grief, as Beatrice was her best friend. This was too big a blow for Tracy.
Tracy was so sad and told Joel that she wish to go home. However when she took out the gadget, the blinking red light was off. The LCD screen when blank! Tracy went panicky and started knocking on it, but it just didn’t work.
Joel, being a gentleman, consoled her. After a while, they both decided not to let their emotions hold them down. So they continued their Journey.
Just when they stopped to take a break, as Joel was scooping up some water to drink, he saw from the corner of his eye a human figure not far from them. He turned around and saw a sweet looking girl was also drinking water.
Equally shock was that girl when she caught sight of Joel. Before Joel could open his mouth to talk, a Euparkeria jump out of nowhere and pounced at the girl. Out of instinct, Joel picked up a big piece of rock and threw it at the creature. Accurately, it hit its eye, immediately it ran away.
Joel and Tracy quickly walk to the girl. By now Joel managed to have a good look at her. She was wearing a silvery suit with a same colour boot.
“Thanks.” She said shyly. Joel and Tracy were elated that she could speak their language. Joel exclaimed, “How do you get here? There should not have any human here.” The girl smiled back and said, “I was about to ask the same question.”
Joel and Tracy told her the whole story of how they get there and the demise of their two friends.
The girl told them that the gadget belonged to her team and that it should return to her. Joel asked who she was and what was happening. She asked Joel and Tracy to follow her to the mother ship and she will get her captain to explain to them.
Not knowing what to do next, they follow the girl to walk into the forest. After about half an hour walk, them stop in front of a huge space ship. The ground was clear and flattened for the ship. It was about three story high elevated on four rounded legs. The girl pressed a small remote control on her shirt and down came an elevator from the middle of the ship.
The girl led them to a room with roll and roll of computers. A tall handsome was working on one of the terminal. That girl addressed him as “captain” and told him about the adventure that the four of them had gone through. Tracy took out the gadget and showed the captain. The captain was relief to see it and told Tracy that its battery had gone flat.
The captain told Joel and Tracy that they are time traveller. They lived in the future. Their times were year 3010. At that time, scientists manage to find a way to break through light speed and Man could therefore travel through time. With the technology they had made many trip to visit our present day live and monitor the evolution of mankind.
Their had just visited our present time and when they found that Joel and the three member was getting to close to the base, they have to leave in a hurry, and drop that gadget. The gadget that Tracy picked up was their emergency Time Travelling pod that would bring any loss crew back to the mother ship. It was only good to carry two persons and for one use only. The captain said that it was lucky they override the pod program to return who ever found it to the mother ship, when they discovered that they lost the pod. Joel and the gangs did not return to the ship because of the four of them was too heavy, the pod could only carry them half way. The captain added that it was lucky they discovered their loss earlier and set it to back to the mother ship or Joel and Tracy would have miss them by ten years.
Their mission at that time was to do research on animals that were existed on earth. He said that in 3010 all wild animals had vanish from the world due to the urbanisation and the environmental harm that cause by human.
The Captain told Joel and Tracy that they would have to send them back or they would be some complication. He also told them that he would bring back their two friends alive but he would have to erase their memory. Tracy told him that he could whatever he want as long as he can bring her two friend back to her.
The captain then asked the girl to give Joel and Tracy an injection and place them in a small rounded cubicle. Slowly they fell asleep.
When they open their eyes, they found their two friends were sleeping next to them, and they have no recollection of they had gone through earlier.

The sheriff who killed a bandit with just one bullet

There was once this county ruled by bandits. The bandits terrorized the county and robbed whatever there was in homes. Hence, every villager left the county.
Then one day, this sheriff was passing by the county and was blocked by a few bandits. The sheriff kindly told them “look, I don’t want to cause any trouble ok?” but the bandits didn’t listen. They took out a jagged knife and told the sheriff to give up his money. He showed his badge and the bandits know that he was one that was not to be trifled with. So they ran away but the sheriff knew that showing his badge means trouble to him.
Soon, the same batch of bandits came back and told the sheriff to come to the motel not far from the corner. They also told him to meet them at sunset.
So when the sun sets, the sheriff went to the motel not far from the corner and this time with a cowboy hat on his head. He walked passed the flipping door and saw the blazing sun projecting the sheriff creating a silhouette. All the bandits had to use their palms to cover their eyes to get a better view of him. Then a voice came from the corner “so you were the sheriff my boys were telling me about. What do you want here?” and all attention focused on the corner. The sheriff at once knew who and what his status was. He calmly replied, “ I was just passing by and I happened to notice that this town was ruled by thugs like you” then suddenly, the air in the whole motel became still and instinctively, and everybody knows that something bad is about to happen. But all the voice did was laugh loudly and the whole motel looked at him with a strange look. Then the figure came out from the dark corner and he wrapped his arms around the sheriff’s shoulder and whispered to him softly “let’s settle this outside, shall we?”
So the sheriff and the figure which is the boss of the bandits went outside and all of a sudden, all quiet on the Texas front and twigs started rolling west and dead leaves could be seen blowing towards their legs and then the two started giving each other looks that were potent. Then both started moving their fingers, itching to grab their guns from the holster and then suddenly both turned around and counted their steps.
1…2…3…4…5 and swoosh both took out their guns and the sheriff put a bullet through the boss’s head and blood kept oozing out of the hole that he sheriff gave. Then the sheriff lowered his hat and gave a cold and cool smile and then bursted out “from today onwards, the authority will take full control of this county! Anyone who do not wish to end up like him” pointing at the dead boss “ better gets out of this place!”
The whole county suddenly scurried away and this man was then knowned as ‘the sheriff who killed a bandit with just one bullet’

The general who never sleeps

The rain was patting non-stop on my tent. I was drinking a cup of nice oolong tea when suddenly my comrade came up and said “general! The Koreans have infiltrated our frontline!” I was shocked. How could the weaklings infiltrate our frontline? I got out from my seat and from a distance, I could see thick black smoke rising up to the night sky. I know that our walls have fallen into the Koreans fire. I quickly told my advisor to prepare my uniform I was going to war.
I gathered as much awaked samurais as I could and went on horseback to the Kyoto front and what happens next shocked me.
I have never seen anything like it. It was the shape of a turtle and it had spear-sharp spikes. It must have been an innovative creation by their one and only hope, admiral Yi Sun Shin. He was the pillar for Korea and the only obstacle that blocks me from reaching my goal to conquering Korea. Then I looked at the war and shouted at the top of my voice “ fight on my samurais! Your wives are waiting at home for you!” the samurais looked at me with that expression. The expression I could never forget. the look tells me that they longed to go home and enjoy a hot and beautiful dinner with their families. It is amazing how one look could tell you so many feelings, so many expressions. I charged in the dark and raised my sword. When they saw the sword, it was their motivation. It was what they needed to fend off the Korean dogs. They were blood-drunk. They killed like nobody’s business.
But although those turtle ships were so powerful that with one cannon it could killed tens of men, the samurais just continued to charge on. I was motivated and honored that we have such great warriors fighting for our country. I went on to fight. With slashing and killing and blood splashing all over my samurai armor, I managed to push back the Koreans for the time being…
And as for Admiral Yi Sun Shin, he went back, hoping that he could come back to our land conquering it, leaving us to put up the white flag. But we know that that’s not going to happened. But is there more than meets the eye. Can Korea in the end overthrow Japan? Tune in next time to my story!

The tormenting experience

My name is Isaac Christian. I am now 89 years old; I have a loving wife and two kids and eight grandchildren. When I was young, I had an experience no one would ever imagined. I was actually a notorious killer at that time and the police were everywhere looking for me. I foolishly thought that no police was walking the street and I dashed across and was unfortunately ambushed.
In the end, a policeman shot me down. I suddenly felt very pain, then I felt coldness, and then I closed my eyes. When I opened my eyes, I felt very hot. When I looked around, I saw many souls working. Some were mining, some were putting coal into the stove and I thought what kind of place is this?
Then suddenly, two figures pushed me into a cell. I felt anxious, nervous and scared. Then suddenly, a weak voice called out to me. Then in the shadows, I saw an old man slowly walking out of the shadows. I asked him “where am I? What is this place? Why am I here?” he said nothing and he tugged my shirt to a place where my view was and he told me “ you are in hell. Maybe because you did something evil or you committed a heavy crime in your life.” Then the two figures brought me to a place where many figures that seemed like what they called grim reapers were standing in the way then they dragged me to the “Emperor” of Hell. He asked, “ Are you Isaac Christian?” I replied a resounding “YES!” he then continued “ you have committed murder and rape in your present life, I hereby sentence you to do mining service and stay in Prison for nine years.
I was then sent to change my clothes, the started work.
When I was working, I met a friend called Jan Lee; he claimed that he was a Malaysian in his past life. He was working here for 32 years. Then after the mining we were sent to our cells. I was hoping to get out of this place and I vowed that if I were to leave this place I would start over anew life.
Day by day this goes on I am doing the same thing everyday, gradually, I have become a dead robot, wishfully thinking that I would get out of this hell
Then one day, a man dressed in white suddenly appeared in front of me saying that he wanted to see me. I followed him and to my surprise, he was actually an ambassador from Earth he demanded that Hell would release him and sent him back to Earth as he has already served his sentence and plead for forgiveness. Then all of a sudden he put something into my mouth and I was back to Earth, when I woke up I found myself in the crematorium, preparing to be burned I quickly shouted and the undertaker dropped me down. I thanked the undertaker and went home and packed my things and ran far away. I then met with my beautiful wife; Mary and we bore two kids!
THE END OF MY RESOUNDING STORY

The life of an undertaker

I am Lim Teck Kun and I am an undertaker. The story I am about to share is something I will never forget.
It was a normal night and I am doing my midnight duty on Mount Vernon when I heard an eerie creaking sound. It was something I have never heard for the whole of my undertaking life. I went to the scene where I heard the noise and then, all of a sudden I felt something cold blowing towards my face. When I turned around I saw something horrifying! I saw this male dressed in the old London style. He was not like what others would describe it as a “white ghostly figure” but an old looking perfectly normal man
The only thing abnormal about him was that he was floating above ground at about 10 inches! He suddenly turned his eyes towards me and shouted frantically “where am I? What am I doing here?” I then told him that he has crossed over to the other world and that he should rest in peace then he said that he has an unfinished business I remember my boss telling me that if any ghost had any unfinished business, I should listen to what he has to say and help him finish it.
So I told him to explain every thing to me and I promised him that I would try my best to finish it. So he began telling me…
He said that before he left this world, he had a big fight with his wife over a sum of money she asked me where the money was but I told her that the time was not ripe yet until when I thought the time was ripe and wanted to give it to her, I just went like that. He told me where the money was and instructed me to pass the money to her. I told him to rest assure that I would get the job done and the next morning, I went to their house and told his wife that her husband was talking to me last night at first she was a bit suspicious of my actions but when I told her about the money case, her eyes sparkled with joy and said that she missed her husband I asked her whether she had a hammer and she said “yes” she took out from her storeroom and I took it and went to the dressing table and just took the hammer and smashed the wooden table. There was heaps and heaps of cash there. She jumped for joy and murmured “ thank you hubby. When I looked at her indescribable expression, it was something I thought that I ould never thought and I know that even as an undertaker I know that ghost is not that bad afer all or is it…?

My grandfather’s scary funeral

It has been 15 years since the funeral of my grandfather yet I still could not forget what happened. My grandfather died of old age and just passed away on the bed. I could vividly remember that I controlled myself not to cry but the heavy sacs of tears was too heavy for me to control and started rolling from my cheeks I remember my mum crying so loud that even the neighbors upstairs had to come down and complained.
So every body came to my grandfather’s funeral. It was a pretty sad and gray scene. You could see many familiar faces trying to console one another. I saw my father bringing boxes of tissues to my aunties and cousins then I noticed someone that we didn’t invite to the funeral entered my grandfather’s canvas. So we thought that it was just an ordinary person or just his neighbor. So after everybody left, we were left with cleaning up and watching guard for my grandfather’s coffin just in case he wakes up in the middle of the night!
So after we cleaned up I accompanied my uncle to guard the coffin because we Chinese believe that if a black cat jumped over the coffin, the deceased will come back to life as a zombie well I thought it was an old wife’s tale until I experienced it myself I saw a black cat and quickly alerted my uncle. We chased it away but it did not budge. It just crossed over the coffin!
We both opened the coffin and to our horror, my grandfather’s eyes were wide open and you could imagine a pale and motionless person with its two eyes staring right at you! You would jump right? But the scariest thing was that it held my hand and then murmured something. I tried to pull his hands away from my wrist but he just wouldn’t let go! I cried to my uncle and he being a long time feng shui master he poured some tea over my grandfather and said some ancient Chinese inscriptions and POOF!!! My grandfather literally went back to normal. I heaved a heavy sigh of relief. My uncle told me to keep this a secret between the two of us. I agreed and since then, whenever there is a funeral I will try to keep a distance from the deceased.
I am now happily married and have two kids but this incident would always be etched on my mind.

The life of an idol

“And the winner of Singapore Idol is…Jake Chan!!!” Laughter and screams and a mix of emotions filled the stadium. There were laughters, sadness and relief. I raised my two hands up and close my eyes trying to recover from my emotions and relieving that one moment but now it is all a thing of the past.
Fifteen years has past since my glorious days of an Idol. Now I am a family man and a retiree. I remember those days where my first album was a huge hit! Record companies start calling me, wishing I would go to their company to sing an album were selling like hot cakes! My salary every month was a five digit number and my manager had to handle five to six phone calls but once the heat cools down I had to start a new album that is where the trouble starts coming in gossips start coming in and paparazzi starts taking shots of me with another girl and then my manager has pushed me, my salary starts decreasing and soon I fell into depression. My albums fell off the shelf and music stores started selling my album at a very low price and no one treated me as an Idol anymore and soon another Idol search went on and my fans started to change sides they went to the other idols and I remember that last time I went on television at least thrice a week but now I went on television at least once a fortnight! I was becoming less popular and then I married to my beautiful wife, Jade.
Then my manager suspended my contract as soon as my contract ended and companies stopped calling me. They practically treated me as a ghost! I felt sad and at a loss. That time I joined Singapore idol was because I had a passion, I had a dream and now I am nothing and suffered depression last time I only see the singers as my goal and I never knew the sad side of an idol so this is my life story

My advice to all singers out there is that if you want to sing you can sing it casually but not as a career I end my story with the hope and wish that nobody would follow my footsteps.

Trouble in New York in the future

“ there is a big fight in New York!” the news reporter was rattling along in the television. There has been a big fight in New York.
Then, many gangsters ruled the dark alleys and in the middle of the night, you could hear police sirens all over the town checking for drug dealers and mafia bosses. The security was so bad that we were strongly advised to stay at home. A tourist like me went there and the receptionist of my hotel said “ sir at 8p.m until the rest of the night it is best advisable to stay in the hotel and keep the curtains closed at all times, and if you have the urgency to go out, I will arrange a taxi for you.” I thought to myself “ is the security that bad?” then I checked into my hotel and rested and I turned on the television. I heard the news saying that the government is at a loss and I still could remember how it all started…
It all started when the American government announced that the country’s national finance has gone bankrupt and then security has decreased as many security and police are unable to get their pays and gangsters started forming up and there were an up rise of underground casinos and mafia bosses. So when a country’s money is gone or owes too much and that’s it everything is lost. You can’t mortgage a house as the government has nothing to give you.
I still remember before it all started, the whole New York was so organized and palm trees covered the roadsides and security was so efficient and everybody was so happy and they could leave their houses freely and nobody would take out a gun and shoot them just for a few cents.
Life wasn’t so miserable then. Everything was well organized although the government already owes debts then but it wasn’t so bad. This came too sudden…too unexpected. But now everything has changed and I have to leave this place and this situation gives an impression to the world that America is Falling!!! For many countries, they would look at America at this angle “ hey, such a big country like America has gone bankrupt! Then what about us? We will soon topple!” while others would think, “ Hey, America has fallen, now is a good time to take over the country and take their resources!”
I go back to Singapore thinking that this all comes in a cycle like a show I watched many years ago called “ Bee Movie” it was about a bee trying to fight for rights that honey should not be stolen by humans and selling it. So it all comes into a circle. We give you the honey and honey overflows and then we stop production and all the flowers start to wither and die and many bees would lose their jobs just because of one bee. The same thing goes for America. If the economy collapses, the people who play in politics would always take their hat off for the Americans and the way they work. But now, people would lose faith in them. It is actually a pity.
This is what would happen if we do not do anything about it so save the world!
I don’t mean anything but it is not always that easy

An unforgettable incident

This is the story of a man who got actually abducted by aliens.
My name is Isaac Johnson and I live in a barn in Dallas, Texas. I live with my wife, Mary Marco. We gave birth to two little rascals, John and Jared. I am sharing with you my very own experience with the aliens itself.
One cold and creepy night, I heard my dog barking unusually, so I thought it was a wolf trying to steal my sheep away for his midnight supper. So I took my double-barreled shotgun and my coat and went out. I flashed my torchlight at the sheep’s ranch but I did not see any wolf at all! Then if it is not the sheep, what could it be? When I turned my attention to my dog and I noticed he was looking up in the night sky. I looked up and to my surprise; I saw a huge, silver- coloured disc hovering on top of my barn. I took out my shotgun and before I could even pull the trigger, a bright beam shot me and then I lost consciousness…
I woke up to find myself in a very bright room and I was lying down… I tried to move but I felt a strong force pushing me back down. Then suddenly three odd-looking shape figures brought me to a room full of computers and more of those strange oval-shaped figures. They mumbled something to the other oval-shaped figures. then someone came in, signaled something and then everybody went out. Suddenly this figure started talking to me. It seems like I am in an UFO and those were aliens. This man that was talking to me was actually a scientist that studied aliens and he seemed to understand alien language and then I asked him why he wanted to abduct people. He kept silent for a while, and then said “ when I boarded this spaceship the aliens also abducted my wife and they made an agreement with me that if I am able to abduct a 100 people for them to study and experiment, they would let my wife go.” Then all of a sudden this scientist was being called to the cockpit and then I thought I would make my great escape.
I walked out of the room and I heard a noise and I guessed it was an alien. I waited for him to walk close enough to me and then I used my fists and bashed it then I noticed that it bled green blood. I almost vomited by the gory scene I have made. I tried to get a key to get out of here I saw an exit but it was heavily guarded. Then I thought, just push them down to the ground. But I noticed that they were carrying ray guns.
I ran back to the alien and took its ray gun and shot the guards. I think this attracted the attention of one too many. Many aliens suddenly appeared far from the view. Then I went to the door and used the card I took from that alien to close the door. Nothing was in my way to my great escape now. While I was thinking on what I was going to do when I returned to Earth, the scientist stood in front of me. I said “why don’t we go together, away from this dreaded spacecraft?” he thought for awhile and told me that he would rather die in this spacecraft than return to Earth empty handed. He said he would rather return with his wife. he said that once he fulfilled his promise, he would go back to Earth with his wife and they would both buy a house in London. I gave him my wishes and then I went off. I was finally thrown back to Earth. When I reached home, my wife, Mary hugged me and then broke down in tears. I gave her a piece of tissue and asked her what happened. She said “I thought you were being kidnapped or something bad happened. I was at a lost…”
I called out the two boys and they came running down the stairway shouting “Daddy! Daddy!” I carried the both of them in my arms and sat down on the sofa and explained everything to my wife and my kids…THE END
